It's been a while since I have been making stuff and since I have had some time off work, I've been on a mission to make a bunch of stuff, especially since I am going towards more of a bohemian/afrocentric direction with my shop. :)

They are all statement making pieces and is a great addition to the wardrobe this Spring.

New Yarn Jewellery!

In case you haven't noticed already guys, I have made some more new yarn wrapped earrings for sale in the shop! I still have loads of yarn left, so expect a lot of these over the next few months! If there's any particular style or colour combination you would like, send me an e-mail!

Much Love Mondays: The Cherry Laundry

I'm excited to write about this designer. I met Dan from The Cherry Laundry when I was selling at Camden Town Market last summer and he has become such a good friend to me, when I first saw his designs, I was really drawn to the quirkiness of the designs and the modernised vintage feel they had :).  I'm totally snapping up a piece! The prints are really distinctive, and you could wear this with any basic piece!

Much Love Mondays: The Lovely Teaspoon

I came across this awesomely quirky etsy shop through twitter, and as soon as I landed on this store, I immediately wanted to snap up a lot of pieces from there, and I probably will when I'm a little richer! I could literally see myself wearing a lot of things from her shop, and at the same time has provoked me onto wanting to create my own Jewellery line devoted to more quirky things! DIY 2012 Wall Calendar.

I got this idea on such a random whim today, and I thought I'd share this with you all! I don't normally use Calendars, but I thought that this would be a first, as it would have been made in a creative way, and won't cost me a single thing.

So, here is what you will need:

- A large image that you're willing to crop; i.e. a photograph, magazine cutting or in my case, I'm using my sketchbook work from first year of uni.

- Scissors

- Graph Paper

- Plain White Paper

- Glue

- Pen

- Pencil

- Ruler

Step 1) with your ruler and pencil, draw a square around the selected part of your image.

Step 2) With your scissors, cut out the image.

Step 3) Stick down your image in the centre of your page.

Step 4) Use a Calendar off Google and write out the months and stuff onto the graph paper, and then cut them out and stick them to the plain paper. At this point, If you want to go the extra mile and you want to use it as a gift, get some foam board (you could get this from any craft store) and stick it onto that. It will give a more professional, artistic look when this is done. :)

DIY Post: Handmade Notebook

Christmas is almost here, and if you're like me, you would have just remembered to go shopping for your loved one when you realize you have absolutely no money till January. 

Well, this is where this DIY comes in. If you know anyone that writes, this would be an excellent present to them- or if you're a scrapbook-er or an artist this is the best, easiest way to create one- and for free, because it's using objects already in your home!

What you will need:

- printing paper (mine is sainsbury's basics, you can get a pack of 500 for less than £5)

- a piece of cloth big enough for your paper

- scissors

- hole punch

- yarn needle

- knitting yarn

- double sided tape

1. fold your piece of paper (a bunch of 16 sheets) in half, and really make sure you really create that crease, as it will help you later on when you assemble your notebook.

2. in small quantities (or as much as you can fit under your hole punch) make the holes about an inch away from the edge, then move the hole punch about an inch upwards, and punch again.

- if it helps, to make sure that your paper holes are equal, if you are doing smaller quantities, you could mark the desired place in with a pencil, before making the holes.

3. add your double sided tape and add it to the edges of 1 sheet of paper, then peel the paper off and stick it in the centre of the fabric. 

*if you are really lazy, then spray glue does the trick also- just remember to let it dry first before getting excited and try and stick it down too early, because it ruins your paper!

4. stick your double sided tape around the edges of your fabric and fold it onto itself.

5. fold the sheets about 1cm away from the hole and place it in the middle, and sew it through. If you want your notebook to be bulky at this point, add another 2 bunches of 16 pages and put them on both sides of the pages in the middle- and that's your notebook!

I hope this all makes sense, I'm kinda half sleepy whilst writing this, so forgive me if it doesn't make sense! But give it a try and see what happens.

Another easy peasy earring display DIY

So after such an awesome response to the jewellery display DIY yesterday, I had a wicked idea that for earrings, because its annoying to have to dig through my earrings in a bowl. You could also use this to display all your earrings at craft fairs and markets if you're on a tight budget!

Here is how to make it :)

You will need:

- Scrap fabric

- Yarn

- Cardboard/ Foam Board

- Scissors

- Tapestry needle

1) Map out the cardboard on top of the fabric. I did this freehand, but you can use tailoring chalk/crayon/oil pastel to help if you want to be accurate.

2) Hold your fabric in place and sew around the edge of your cardboard. I'm doing this freehand but if it helps you could put double sided tape or ordinary tape around the edges to hold it whilst you sew.

If you are sewing freehand, as you are sewing, pull and hold the fabric a bit to get it to cover all around the edges.

To finish, do one giant stitch from one end of the cardboard to the other, and then if you want it to hang, do another big stitch but tie it nearer to your needle rather than completing the stitch.

DIY Bohemian Jewellery Hanger Display

This was literally done this morning... I woke up and I was looking through my twitter feed, when I saw Laura of Violet Bella's Post on Displaying all your jewellery, which I found really cool, and then I thought... I could make another display that is just as cool for my necklaces, as I have an overwhelming amount of pieces already.

This would make such a cool piece to have in your bedroom, and is a gorgeous way to organise your necklaces and bracelets without getting them tangled! :)

Hanger (doesn't have to be a wire one)

 You then start to plait around the hanger. It's a bit tricky, but it is really simple. 

And that's it! This is how you create the display!
