Denim Upcycled Hair Bow

At last- I have some cute hair bows for sale in the shop!  All pieces have been recycled from unwanted clothing, so they are also one of a kind! I have been ridculously busy trying to get rid of the overflowing fabric pile that I collected since I started my business, and I thought, this is one of a few good ways to go about it!

They are a cute piece to have and you can wear it with anything! I even made myself a few, because I am an avid lover for hair accessories, as I have short hair, so obviously I can't play with it much, so I feel it is a necessity to have something to give basic looks a quirky edge.

I hope you guys have a look and see something you like!

New Bangles!

I finally have gotten bangles in my shop!I have a variety of colours and all made from cotton, so it is very eco conscious :) I'll be listing some more jewellery tomorrow... but that will be the last time I'll be updating my shop regularly for a few weeks, as I have a ton of work to do that I'm kind of behind on, so please forgive me for being a bad blogger and business woman as of late!

I will be doing a giveaway in a few weeks to celebrate my end of project and education, so it means more goodness for everyone, woo-hoo!

Much Love Mondays: The Lovely Teaspoon

I came across this awesomely quirky etsy shop through twitter, and as soon as I landed on this store, I immediately wanted to snap up a lot of pieces from there, and I probably will when I'm a little richer! I could literally see myself wearing a lot of things from her shop, and at the same time has provoked me onto wanting to create my own Jewellery line devoted to more quirky things! Stay tuned on that note... ;)

Here are a few of my favourite things from The Lovely Teaspoon:

DIY Post- Recycled Pillow Case Tote Bag

Hello Lovelies!

It's been such a while since I last did a blog post, again, life has been full of many, many distractions lately, and I haven't really been motivated again... I think I've been feeling a little lost lately, but I've now got my head screwed back on and I'm ready to work harder than ever, so expect to see a lot more blog posts like this DIY one, and the Much Love Mondays series, and a new one coming up pretty soon-ish! ;)

Anyway- As a broke-as-a-joke student, I love finding ways to get stuff on the cheap, and creating this bag which is excellent for me to use to Uni, but you lovely people could use it for shopping too- why get a plastic bag that could fall apart easily, when you have a fabric bag that is strong and would last you several shopping trips? :)

- tailoring pins
- scissors
- a sewing machine
- a pillow case

Step 1)

Cut a big strip from the pillowcase; a strip that would be big enough to later on cut into 4 decent sized strips for the handles.

Step 2)

pin across two strips and then use your sewing machine and sew them together, to make a long handle.

Step 3)

Fold the piece over itself and pin again to get a securely sewn handle. Machine stitch across here.
Repeat Steps 2 & 3 for the second handle.

Step 4)
Pin around the end of your pillow case to make the top of the bag, and sew.

Step 5)

Pin the handle onto the bag, and sew around the handle and diagonally across to double secure it.

Ta-dahhh! :) Here is my easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy DIY bag!

It's quite a cute piece, I think, and you're bound to create a more imaginative and original piece this way!

I hope this is easy for you lovelies, and let me know if you do create this!

Another easy peasy earring display DIY

So after such an awesome response to the jewellery display DIY yesterday, I had a wicked idea that for earrings, because its annoying to have to dig through my earrings in a bowl. You could also use this to display all your earrings at craft fairs and markets if you're on a tight budget!

Here is how to make it :)

You will need:
- Scrap fabric
- Yarn
- Cardboard/ Foam Board
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle

1) Map out the cardboard on top of the fabric. I did this freehand, but you can use tailoring chalk/crayon/oil pastel to help if you want to be accurate.

2) Hold your fabric in place and sew around the edge of your cardboard. I'm doing this freehand but if it helps you could put double sided tape or ordinary tape around the edges to hold it whilst you sew.

If you are sewing freehand, as you are sewing, pull and hold the fabric a bit to get it to cover all around the edges.

To finish, do one giant stitch from one end of the cardboard to the other, and then if you want it to hang, do another big stitch but tie it nearer to your needle rather than completing the stitch.

This is what your earring display should look like;

If you would like to try this, please feel free, and then link me when you're done so I can see your version!
