NEW IN THE SHOP!

I've been sewing up lots of treats, since my shopping spree in the charity shops the other day- I bought soooo much stuff, and I can't wait to show you the rest of what I've been making recently. Summer's nearly here so these things are lovely pieces to rock your basic outfit! More pieces will be added to the shop at some point next week.

NEW TO THE SHOP!

I have gotten back into making button jewellery from scrap fabrics again! I still have so much fabric to get rid of, especially some of my textiles samples that I no longer like as a whole- so there will be a lot added to the shop gradually, as well as yarn wrapped jewellery.

More pieces will be added at some point next week, so keep a look out! :)

UPON REFLECTION // NEW NECKLACES!

Hey guys,

I had taken a break from blogging for a few weeks, as I was frustrated that I was stuck in a creative rut and everyday stresses had gotten on top of me, so I needed some time away from work, the business and the blog just to calm myself and rethink how I address things in my life. And I never thought I would be blogging again, but I don't think I could express myself fully on any other platform :).

So, in case you have missed some of the updates on Facebook, I had mentioned that I was going through a rebrand of the shop, as I felt that everything there wasn't as coherent anymore, and I was just stocking up for the sake of having a certain number of things in the shop, so it was taking the joy out of making things I loved. So I had reflected on the things I used to make when I first launched my designs, which were hippie chic and afrocentric with an edge, which is what I'd like to go back to, because it was my happiest time and I knew more of myself and my niche.

 

 

 

A lot of aspects of this will be making a comeback, especially with the jewellery and accessory aspects of it. This will be my 5th year in business and I intend to make it the best year so far :).

I have made a couple of new pieces, which are available now, in the shop!

I love statement piece necklaces, they really make an outfit THAT much better than it already is.  I imagine this being worn with cute dresses in particular, or even a nicely tailored shirt and jeans, but I think this would be good with any casual outfits too.

Fathers Day and Shop Facelift!

   

 

So, lately I've been hiding my hair a lot because of that ghastly regrowth I've been suffering with recently, I hadn't treated my hair kindly enough so it's kinda just gone pretty dry and untameable... that's what happens when you don't bother to moitsurise the hair!

I also went to the home to see the family for fathers day- I always go home on a sunday since I moved out, just to see how they are and catch up on lost time, but it was especially good to see my dad's smile when he saw me walk through the door :), even if I did sleep for most of the day.

Handmade by Ify has also been going through a facelift... starting with a new logo! I love this one because it actually represents myself and my style, as well as the kind of egdy look that I want to give to the shop... many exciting times to come!

Latest shenanigans: New clothing, accessories and team members!

     



      

I have finally been customising clothing again! :) I have missed sewing and stuff, so I have been chucking studs on EVERYTHING, haha! I also treated myself to an iPad, which I am totally excited about, because that means I can keep you guys updated more on the latest news! I have literally been playing about with my iPad since I bought it- best purchase ever, me thinks! Also, I have finally got myself a new team member for Handmade by Ify!

 My friend Gina from work does PR at Uni and wanted to help out with running the business, which obviously would benefit both of us, because I have no time for blogging or social media, so it would be great to have an extra pair of hands! My other friend Rachael is also helping out, which is awesomeeee. I can't believe I have such good people in my life who actually wants my business to boost as much as I do- I feel so lucky! :)

   

   

I'm introducing collar clips to the shop! They are soooo cute and uber quirky! I recycled them from old buttons and made them into the most awesome accessory to have. They jazz up any shirt and makes an outfit more exciting, whether it is day or night wear.

    
   

I have also been creating textiles jewellery again! I was inspired by the festival themed display at Topshop in Westfield in Shepherd's Bush and thought, "it's time to make some amazing jewellery again and use up all my yarn!" I hope to create more in a few weeks too, and will be doing so all summer long in a variety of colours! They are all hand-dyed by myself and made from cotton yarn, so it's nice and durable too!






 

New to the Shop: Yarn Wrapped Bangles and Tunics!

I have been making some new bangles for the shop! I'm on a mission (still a year later, haha!) to clear out my scraps that I've collected during my time at Uni, and so far, I've only finished my fabrics! Now I'm tackling the yarn, which may take a bit more time, but I'm sure everyone would enjoy these as they increase in supply in the shop. :)





I've also been making some pieces from scratch, starting with these oversized tunic tops. They are effortless, but still statement making too, which is what I hope to do with my clothes this season.

I'll be stocking up more and more this week, from more handmade buttons, to clip on earrings and rings!

New to the Shop: Dino Keyrings!

I've been making these cute keyrings for the shop! you could put them on the pull of your bag, backpack, flash drive or even jazz up your keys :).








I've even treated myself to a keyring, which is the same as my besties necklace (I need to hunt a pic of him wearing it) :).



It's a cool thing to be rocking this season, and is a lovely gift for someone too!
 

New to the Shop: Hair Bows!

At last- I have some cute hair bows for sale in the shop!  All pieces have been recycled from unwanted clothing, so they are also one of a kind! I have been ridculously busy trying to get rid of the overflowing fabric pile that I collected since I started my business, and I thought, this is one of a few good ways to go about it!

They are a cute piece to have and you can wear it with anything! I even made myself a few, because I am an avid lover for hair accessories, as I have short hair, so obviously I can't play with it much, so I feel it is a necessity to have something to give basic looks a quirky edge.
