Some Shop Related News!

Hey guys!

I've been busy making some changes to the shop, recently, because I've been feeling like I've been making stuff for the sake of making stuff, and is kinda making my shop look a bit random, then I thought, why did I  open shop in the first place? And then I remembered, to recycle/rescue each garment and jewellery piece, one piece at a time, whilst making them super cute and versatile!

Also I decided to make some pieces that I know I would wear, which is also very important for running a fashion brand.

Anyways- the important news:

- I have increased Postage and Packaging Prices. It had to be done, because Royal Mail had also increased their services, which is slightly annoying. However, if any person who lives overseas spends more than £10 on packaging, their order gets upgraded onto an Airsure service, rather than the Normal Airmail Service, which will mean that you can spot your package at any point, which hopefully would mean no issues with lost mail! YAY :)

- I will be making lots of recycled clothes again, not just jewellery. I've missed sewing!

- I'm also offering a 30% discount when you enter WALKINGONSUNSHINE upon checkout, which runs out on Friday, so get to shopping! :)

New to the Shop: Yarn Wrapped Bangles and Tunics!

Black Yellow and Red Yarn Wrapped Bangle

I have been making some new bangles for the shop! I'm on a mission (still a year later, haha!) to clear out my scraps that I've collected during my time at Uni, and so far, I've only finished my fabrics! Now I'm tackling the yarn, which may take a bit more time, but I'm sure everyone would enjoy these as they increase in supply in the shop. :)

I've also been making some pieces from scratch, starting with these oversized tunic tops. They are effortless, but still statement making too, which is what I hope to do with my clothes this season.

I'll be stocking up more and more this week, from more handmade buttons, to clip on earrings and rings!

Denim Upcycled Hair Bow

At last- I have some cute hair bows for sale in the shop!  All pieces have been recycled from unwanted clothing, so they are also one of a kind! I have been ridculously busy trying to get rid of the overflowing fabric pile that I collected since I started my business, and I thought, this is one of a few good ways to go about it!

They are a cute piece to have and you can wear it with anything! I even made myself a few, because I am an avid lover for hair accessories, as I have short hair, so obviously I can't play with it much, so I feel it is a necessity to have something to give basic looks a quirky edge.

I hope you guys have a look and see something you like!

New Service: Handmade by Ify Wardrobe Surgery

So, I'm finally introducing a Wardrobe Surgery Service to the shop! I've had so many requests recently  to fix people's much loved pieces that have been worn out, or just have seen better days... whether it's a broken zip, ripped jeans, or some broken bits of jewellery- no job is too big or small.

This is kind of an extension to the custom order service I already do, but you have more input, which is great, because sometimes just having a tweak here and there shouldn't require so much hassle.

Prices start from £2 for jewellery, or £4 for clothing, depending on what's required. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please drop a comment or e-mail me over at k_umunna@live.co.uk, or contact me over on 07906189467.

New Charity I'm Sponsoring: Mama Biashara

I just wanted to let you know that I'm now donating 10% of my profits to charity again! What prompted me to do this was when I went to this awesome African Charity Shop at the W12 Centre in Shepherd's Bush, called Mama Biashara. The volunteer staff are really friendly and passionate about what they do.

I got these heart earrings from there, and they are beautiful, and more suited to my style too- win-win!

I love the fact that there are awesome independent places like this that help small businesses, especially in Africa, where it isn't as easy to start up one like it is over here, from past experience. 100% of profits made from their lovely shop goes straight to those creative designer/makers, and helps them to keep a roof over their heads!

I've been really picky with giving money to charity in the past, because I don't know how much of my money actually does go to those in need, or even makes that much of a difference, so I've been keen on finding a small charity that makes a huge difference, because it makes me happy that my money helps out individuals in need too.

If anyone is ever in Shepherd's Bush, please come down and have a look at this shop; everyone is bound to find one thing in there. I've even bought a bunch of headscarves from there too. :)

A purchase from Handmade by Ify will also benefit this Charity!

New to the Shop: Patchwork Bags!

I've been busy with my busy hands, making the most of my "mission clearout" theory on all my fabric I have accumulated over the years.

I've organised a lot of the fabrics into lovely tote bags, but I've still got a way to go  before I have finished all of that and started onto new products! I love to use patchwork, but I want to make room for new stuff too, which is why I am doing this.

I have chosen to use leather handles for a nice, luxurious touch to them too, so you would really get a unique experience with these lovely things!
