My latest purchase; Violet Bella

I am soooo excited about this purchase from Violet Bella. I was in SUCH a funk for the past couple of days... and with my Student Maintenance Grant coming early, I wanted to treat myself... I think I also wanted a new look for next year, so I treated myself to these perfect earrings as a starting point!

Violet Bella is an Artist, Photographer and Designer, who believes in "being true to yourself". I have been "following" this artists work for the past few months and I have fallen in love with her stuff... She is so inspiring with the way she lives her life... everything in it is handmade and sentimental and it makes me want to better my own life!

I hope that my own line, Bend Down Boutique, would progress in the same way she has, because she is so awesome! :)

I would like to make posts like this, appreciating artists a regular thing from now on, and then any personal thing goes on my tumblr, because I love soooo much items and people, I need to share it :)

Thanks so much for reading!

My Artist of the Day

Because I am on my way to self-discovery, I have decided to find some cool artists to look at for inspiration! :)

My Artist of the Day, which I found on etsy is this cool cat lover called Silvia and she lives in Portugal! Like me, shes a student, but she studies chemical engineering- that sounds interesting! She makes the most awesome, quirky jewellery I have ever seen! :D come and check out her website here: http://www.bijunea.etsy.com/

New Updates.

Hey guys,

I believe I havent been saying anything about myself at all on my blog!

how incredibly rude of me! haha

First of, my name is Katherine, and im 20 yrs young. I design and sell my clothes at http://www.benddownboutique.etsy.com/, and i have been doing so for the past year. actually yesterday was the 1 year anniversary- YAY!

the term 'bend down boutique' stems from the nigerian pidgin term "second hand clothing". I wanted to call it KittyKat Designs, but I felt that it was me not trying to develop as a person.

Before I joined the world of etsy, I had mostly designed for myself, or occasionally sold my designs on eBay, but much to my dismay, my customers were more concerned about getting a bargain, rather than wanting to get an original, upcycled item. I also volunteered for a charity shop, where I found my confidence to communicate with other people of the public. I also went to London College of Fashion, which is as big as Parsons College in the US, but I found that it was a lot of pressure and i felt supressed as a designer, and almost didnt bother with fashion or anything related with art and design.

Then i stumbled across etsy, and i fell in love; it was my chance to take myself more seriously as a designer, and get myself out there.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to have a cool fashion show, and I am now going to sell my designs at a stall near Pauls Boutique at Clothes Show Live at Birmingham NEC, so if you are ever around the UK in december, come on by :D

Another persons trash is another ones treasure

These are just so cool! I was totally inspired by this collection, especially the cute little upcycled kiddies skirt by wynsome.etsy.com! It makes a change, because there is a lot of recycled stuff for adults to wear, but why should it stop there?! these recycling/upcycling habits should start from a young age :D

I love looking at other peoples masterpieces of once loved items, because the possibilities of what you can do with them are endless!
