DIY FRIDAYS: HANDMADE CUSHION

Stuck on what to buy on the cheap side for someone this Christmas? Give this a try! I made this cushion out of a pillow from Primark and some scrap fabric I found lying around in the house.

Here's what you will need:

Cheap pillow (preferably one you can fold in half)
Any scrap fabric or unwanted material you might have
Scissors
Tailoring Pins
Needle & Thread (If you have an overlocker, this will be a lot quicker!)

Fold your pillow in half, and with your tailoring pins, secure the edges of it. Then with your needle and thread, sew around the outside of it to hold it in place. (if you have your overlocker, then this will be handy for you and more secure)

2. Get your fabric and pin it around your cushion.  If it helps then pin the edge of the fabric onto the cushion and pin the sides first, as at this point it can be quite tricky to hold together.

3. Then sew around the edges of your fabric, and you have your very own one of a kind pillow! If you want to go the extra mile like me, I had some extra yarn lying around and decided to finger-knit a trim around the outside of it.

If you need to know how to finger knit, then here is a good example of how to do so.

Good luck guys!

New found love: Knitting!

I thought I should let everyone know how much I love knitting. It really is my craft therapy for when I'm feeling blue, and it is such a good distraction cos all your stress and anxiety just dissolves cos you're putting so much focus onto your project.

I thought about knitting a bunch of scarves for sale in my shop, but this is one craft that I don't want to try and exploit for money because I love it but I think if I started making money out of this I would lose the love I have for it. Plus, I don't have much patience OR focus to do the same thing over and over, which is why I kinda really only sell one of a kind things.

I also have listed a couple of newbies in the shop, but I forgot my camera as I was packing to stay at my parents this weekend! :(. So I will be listing a lot of things on Monday Evening instead.

Have an awesome weekend guys!

Shop Updates: New Clothes!

White Silver Studded Vest
White Gold Studded Applique Tank Top
Black Aztec Applique Mini Dress

I'm so happy to be getting into the habit of making clothes again! I have an addiction to studs and applique right now, so I have been doing a lot of that lately. I have these lovelies for sale in the shop.

I won't be able to update the shop for a week because I'm on a short trip to Glasgow on Tuesday for a couple of days, and then I'm working on my birthday and celebrating it a few days later! It's a busy week!

I will be leaving the shop open, but PLEASE note that all orders made between Sunday 13th and 21st will be delayed until the 22nd. I will be answering e-mails between 18th and 21st if anyone has any enquiries.

Share some love!

Hey guys,

A couple of months ago I mentioned on my blog post that my friend Rhian was leaving the UK to go back to Australia, but couldn't afford to bring her dog with her due to strict quarantine regulations (for those who don't know, Australia is super strict on what they bring into their country as they don't want to risk anything bringing anything that might bring danger there). It would be super awesome for her to reach her target as she's had some real tough times, and I would be excited to see this one thing go her way :).

She's already 25% of the way there so please continue to donate, or even spread the word and help reach her target :).

Much love!

Much Love Mondays

Super hot pair of shorts from Kissing in Traffic.

The TUNDRA Leather Bag /// slouchy black leather bag with orange arrow fabric and tassel

This super gorgeous bag from Made by Andi. I have yet to own a proper nice leather bag, apart from my hello kitty one (which I have used to death) and would love a handmade one!

Making my own iced tea! It took a couple of times to get it right because of the sugar and how strong you want the coffee, but it was sooo worth trying, especially if you want to live a slightly thriftier lifestyle. If you would like to try it for yourself, here's where I got the recipe!

I love this dressmaker's blog, called Tilly and the Buttons. Whenever I read this blog, I get so excited and makes me want to get involved in more projects for myself and not just about what I can make for the shop.

Melon Lady! Her video blogs actually make me laugh so much, and I just think she is an awesome person. She does cool outfit posts, and just shenanigans in general! I'd love to do a bloggers meet up with her one day cos she sounds really fun.

Now, I must dash, I have a hankering for some Ben and Jerrys (fudge chocolate flavour!)

Have a good evening!

New Yarn Jewellery!

In case you haven't noticed already guys, I have made some more new yarn wrapped earrings for sale in the shop! I still have loads of yarn left, so expect a lot of these over the next few months! If there's any particular style or colour combination you would like, send me an e-mail!

I am also stocking up on menswear over the next few days, so keep an eye out for that :).

DIY Fridays: Duvet Cover Set

Photo: Woohoo! I actually made my own duvet cover! It was cheaper than going to primark to buy one so ill be definitely making more of my own :) #DIY #Handmade

It's been such a long time since I did a DIY- sorry guys!

I decided that because I had caught up with my sewing for the shop so far, I could do a DIY :)

This is really easy, just very time consuming, as it took me about 5 hours on and off to do, but I think it was totally worth it. It is super cute and brightens up the room. It was very cheap to do as well, cheaper than a standard Primark set, and is super original- you can't get any better than that!

The material is from one of the shops in Shepherd's Bush and was on sale, and got it discounted because I bought so much fabric.

The material you would need is a cheap cotton fabric, they cost about £2.50 per metre, but if you ask very nicely (like I did) you could get it cheaper, and you could get it even cheaper from the charity shop if you want to get a real bargain and sew two cute sheets together.

 Here's what you will need:

5 meters cotton fabric
scissors
sewing machine (if you don't have one, you could use a needle and thread, but will take more time)
tailoring pins

I got a bit too carried away with sewing that I didn't do a photographic step by step, but I have done a diagram to make it simple for you:

* also allow a 5 cm seam allowence. I didn't cut it to size as I was really lazy, so it is slightly big for my single size duvet, but it may fit snuggly to a double size duvet.

I hope it is actually easier to understand, but if you don't please let me know and I will clarify myself more. :)

It would make a lovely gift too, if you have limited funds, and you could jazz up the duvet by combining two different fabrics or even using any scrap fabrics for the strips!

Have a good day
