DIY Fridays: Duvet Cover Set

Photo: Woohoo! I actually made my own duvet cover! It was cheaper than going to primark to buy one so ill be definitely making more of my own :) #DIY #Handmade

It's been such a long time since I did a DIY- sorry guys!

I decided that because I had caught up with my sewing for the shop so far, I could do a DIY :)

This is really easy, just very time consuming, as it took me about 5 hours on and off to do, but I think it was totally worth it. It is super cute and brightens up the room. It was very cheap to do as well, cheaper than a standard Primark set, and is super original- you can't get any better than that!

The material is from one of the shops in Shepherd's Bush and was on sale, and got it discounted because I bought so much fabric.

The material you would need is a cheap cotton fabric, they cost about £2.50 per metre, but if you ask very nicely (like I did) you could get it cheaper, and you could get it even cheaper from the charity shop if you want to get a real bargain and sew two cute sheets together.

 Here's what you will need:

5 meters cotton fabric
scissors
sewing machine (if you don't have one, you could use a needle and thread, but will take more time)
tailoring pins

I got a bit too carried away with sewing that I didn't do a photographic step by step, but I have done a diagram to make it simple for you:

* also allow a 5 cm seam allowence. I didn't cut it to size as I was really lazy, so it is slightly big for my single size duvet, but it may fit snuggly to a double size duvet.

I hope it is actually easier to understand, but if you don't please let me know and I will clarify myself more. :)

It would make a lovely gift too, if you have limited funds, and you could jazz up the duvet by combining two different fabrics or even using any scrap fabrics for the strips!

Have a good day
