New Clothes!

I have new clothes in stock! It's been such a while since I added clothes in the shop. I have some more to add tomorrow, but I'm pretty tired. I have started sewing up my accessories for my new shop in the summer, and it's looking pretty good! It looks very feminine, which seems like an ultra ego to my usual style, but I love it. The shop is going to be extra quirky and very unique. Can't wait to till it's all pieced together.

Outfit Post 30.01.2012

Cardigan- TKMaxx
Top- Market Shop
Skirt- Recycled Dress from Charity Shop
Belt- Market Shop
Ring- Jwlry
Tights- Primark
Boots- eBay

As you can see, I love shopping on the cheap! :) I got this awesome cardigan for £5 in the January sales, along with 2 dresses and a hoodie totaling £21- MEGA bargain! I wore this to uni yesterday, and although I didn't stay there for long, it was my way of unleashing a new me- hopefully a more confident and happier me. I've always loved wearing skirts and dresses but I have never had the right clothes to make it stand out, and when I do wear dresses, it feels so good.

My first ever giveaway!

I'm so excited- I've always wanted to do one, but I've never had enough of a cohesive collection in my shop to give one away. Now though, I'm doing this just to see what kind of response I get from everyone.

I accidently messed up a little though, because I didn't mention where you can name your favorite item! So if you haven't already, if you follow me on Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr, and name the item on there :).

You have got to be in it to win it, so come and enter for your chance! <3

New Jewellery.

I have made more jewellery at last! It is really for people who always like to have certain pieces to make a statement of the whole outfit. I have made it in gold and silver, and although I have made enough of a variety, it is only in limited quantities, so please snag them while you can.

p.s I haven't listed any of the gold pieces for sale yet, so if you want them, I'll be listing them for sale tomorrow!

DIY Fridays: Bleached Circle Fringed Tshirt

I thought this would be a wicked  thing to rock, especially if you're bored of your wardrobe right now, its the perfect way to jazz it up!

What you will need:

- Carrier Bag
- T Shirt
- Bleach
- Gloves
- Old Paintbrush
- Pot/Palette for the bleach

Also, make sure you're in a well ventilated area- no one likes to be around bleach!

Step One: Put the carrier bag in between the front and the back of the t shirt to prevent seeping. Pour a small amount of bleach into the pot/palette and dab it around in any shape that you want, but I'm doing a circle, because it's easy :)

Step Two: Fill in the centre with the bleach and keep dabbing at it until the t shirt starts to change colour.

Step Three: If you want to, you can go around it again in an outline, but it would look just as good without it.

Step Four: Cut around the neck area.

At this point, you can wash it, because I know the smell of the bleach is really overpowering. I'd say handwash it in a bucket or sink, and not in the washing machine, to avoid contamination.

Step Five: Cut into the t shirt, about 1cm apart. You can go as high up the T Shirt as you wish.

Step Six: Knot the strip, just cos it looks good, and that it doesn't come apart when you wash it.

Step Seven: Knot the ends as well, cos it looks really cool.

Tadah! That's how it's done. I'm quite messy, so it's not the best looking things, but I hope you get the jist! I'll still be rocking this, and I hope you'll like it enough to try it for yourself! :)

Much Love Mondays: Kitsch Bitch Jewellery

This designer is one that I love; she had opened her shop only 3 months ago, but it is off to a great start! Her work is so quirky, and original, and super affordable- I'm sure to snap up one of her pieces in the next couple days... I hope you will enjoy this little interview :)

Retro TV Necklace,Winged Vintage Style TV

1. Hi! Can you tell us about yourself?

Hello! I'm Kerry, 22 and I stay near Glasgow. I have a long term boyfriend and a wee dog <3 I just finished my first Open Uni course and I hope to work towards a degree in natural science.

2. How did you first get involved in designing?

This has actually been a recent venture for me. I used to, and still do, read a lot of fashion blogs and they would feature pieces from Etsy. From there I started reading craft blogs and I found the stuff people were making really inspiring. I love tutorials! So I figured hey why can't I do it myself. I started off making felt pieces, mainly brooches then moved onto jewellery which I looove.

3. How would someone describe your style?

Probably a bit quirky and eclectic. I like to wear fairly simple outfits, 50s shape cute skirt, a plain top with weird, bright accessories and shoes. So when I'm looking for shop supplies I like things that stand out because they're unusual/weird/really cute! I also adore all things kitsch (as you can tell from the name!) I think my gumball charm bracelets define my style as they're bright, unusual and totally unique.

4. What do you do when you aren't creating lovely pieces?

I recently just finished a course at the Open Uni (can't go to regular uni due to health problems) and it was good to get back into studying again, I want to continue with that. I like to see my awesome friends and watch TV series with my boyfriend. I play a lot of video games, namely World of Warcraft ( I know, I know!) and I'm currently reading Under The Dome by Stephen King. I also like make a racket on guitar with a friend. So pretty boring hobbies but I enjoy them all :)

5. What made you want to start Kitsch Bitch Jewellery?

Well as mentioned I have health problems and I spent 5 years in a rut doing nothing at all. I would just get up at whatever time in the day because I had nothing to do. After seeing other people's Etsy shops I just realised this was something I could do and I dove right into it. I love everything about it, making the pieces of course! But also the running of the shop, providing customer service and tweaking my listings to try get better and better.

6. What is a favorite item from Kitsch Bitch Jewellery?

My most popular items are my green Mario mushroom earrings and this super cute kawaii cat necklace

For me personally I looove the new cameo necklaces, I've made a few for myself! I love pastel colours and the cute images. I'm going to have new ones in soon with different images.

7. Do you have any inspirations for the pieces that you make?

I tend to just go with what I'm drawn to aesthetically. I do love B movies though, zombies, gore... I like that you can find a bit of that in amongst all the cute!

8. What is the most challenging part for your label?

I'd say it's hard to have confidence in the pricing and also picking the "right" pieces. There's a lot of stuff in my shop that I picked because I personally liked but I'm not actually sure if it will sell! I think a lot of Etsy shop owners under price themselves and I am definitely erring on the side of caution. I think confidence in those areas is something that will come with experience.

9. If someone was interested in running their own business like yourself, what advice would you give?

My friend is actually considering opening his own Etsy shop and I'm trying to help him out a bit. Due to having a lot of free time I have been cramming in Etsy info the last couple of months. Reading the forums for tips really helps. I'd say the most important thing is understanding relevancy, making sure your titles and tags are wrote so you can be found easily by search. You could have the most amazing product but no one's going to find it if it's not search relevant. Study the seller's handbook, read the forums regularly and remember something can always be improved :) Thank you!

New Pieces for the Shop!

I have new tops and tees for sale in the shop! I've decided that since people liked these style of tops, that I should bring a bit of a variety, so I will add them gradually to the shop, depending on how they sell. I'm also having a discount right now, so if you want to snap up a bargain, then don't miss out- get 30% off your purchase when you type in BARGAINHUNTER in the checkout, you have until the 31st to take advantage.

Have a good evening, I plan to have a relaxing one before going back to Uni tomorrow... but then I can't really relax to save my life, so, I'm gonna try and do a knitting project! :)

DIY Post- Coloured Stripe Painting

I thought I'd share a very simple DIY blog post, minimal effort required for once! It doesn't really go well in my room, but I'm just placing it here for the visualisation! :)

Here is what you will need:

- Paint brushes
- Acrylic paint
- A3 card
- Paint palette
- Jam jar for water

Step 1) Choose 5 paint brushes, varying in size.

Step 2) Paint on your first colour horizontally. Don't worry about it being straight or anything, it's supposed to be freespirited! :)

Step 3) Put on the 2nd Colour. If certain  areas come out a bit bumpy, then just smooth it out with the paint brush. Don't worry if the colours overlap. Keep doing it with as much colours as you want.

Tada! Told you it was really simple! :) Maybe try it for yourself and see where it gets you? Maybe you don't have to do it in as much crazy colours as me, but it still would look good!

Shop Updates // Behind the Scenes.

I have a few new things for sale in the shop- and I still have a few more things to add as well from back in 2011! I think the remaining of the stuff I have created will be up for sale in the weekend. I think my designs have taken a bit of a more edgy/quirky twist again, and I love it, because it takes me back to the days before I started my business where I was really wild at recycling clothing. :)

Lately, I have been a bit overwhelmed with everything, and I always feel like I have to prove myself and work myself to exhaustion in order to achieve something and please everyone, and honestly said, it's getting a bit tiresome. I am not perfect, and I never will be, and there's no way I could please everyone. There will always be areas that need to be improved, and they will do. It seems like with my business, there is a lot of juggling, so there isn't much of a focus, so I am going to do just that!

I have ordered new stock for the shop too- so expect some more staples for the wardrobe soon! Oh, and there's going to be a new shop soon this summer! A lot of simpler in the sense that I could make them over and over again, AND everyone would have the chance to snag a piece of my work. Already thought of a name as well- Kitty Kat Stitches. It's going to be extra quirky too- yayyy :) I'm not sure whether or not to create a bigcartel account or keep selling on etsy... but then there's a few months to think about it.

Much Love Mondays

It's been such a while since I have done a Much Love Mondays post... but it's about time that I brought it back. I've decided though, that I won't just be choosing 1 particular artist that I like and interview them as such, as I don't have the time to be finding people to interview because of my time at Uni being a bit intense!

I will though, select a group of Artists/Designer/Makers, and show their awesome work!

So, here we go!

Image of Sweet Cupcake Ring

I love this ring by Indie Darling, it is sooooo cute! I can never have enough cupcake rings, or any cupcake jewellery in general! mmmmm :)

This crop top by momentumfashion.com for Red Velvet. So cute! I don't usually wear nude colours, but I can really easily wear this with like a vest top and my favorite skinnies, and it would make a wicked jazzed up casual look. :)

Sock Monkey Wrist Warmers
I love these fingerless gloves! I have just gotten into making gloves, just in a real quirky way, because I think I have used the wrong needles for the yarn that I have, so I really need to invest in some bigger ones so I can actually do it right.

savanna. two sea urchin spikes in a glass bottle.

I love this designer, and I love the necklace. So pretty! I would happily rock this. :)

I love this necklace... I would wear this mostly on my casual outfits :)

I hope you liked this post, I feel like I would be doing  a lot more of these!

New Backpacks!

I have made some new backpacks for the shop! I love making these because a lot of love has been put into it, and because of the different colour schemes, you can adapt it to your mood! Plus you know it's a unique piece, and you're not gonna get it anywhere else.

I have been so busy lately, with trying to sort out my dissertation, my sketchbook work and budgeting for Uni, as well as sewing, so I'm sorry that I haven't really been as regular as I promised, but I am being a lot more organised than I used to be! :)

Studio Decor Inspiration.

I am in love with bohemian styles, even within my designs... and since I am in the redecorating/re-organising mood, it's nice to have some ideas as to characterize my studio space so it would entice me to stay up there more and sew some cool things for my shop.

I cannot wait to get stuck into all this, although it would be hard because my studio is in the attic, it is sooo awkwardly built, BUT I do love a challenge! I'm excited as to how it would turn out! :)
